چکیده

Humus forms are good indicators of environmental conditions and thus important in forest ecological processes. Altitudinal gradients considered as natural laboratory for evaluating soil processes humus form distribution. The objective this study was to evaluate the macromorphology along an altitudinal gradient (0-2000 m a.s.l.) covered with plain forest, mixed pure forests forest-grassland ecotone, Alborz Mountains northern Iran. In total, 225 profiles were evaluated. Forest stand variables including tree density, basal area, crown height, floor physico-chemical properties biological features measured. We found that influence both distribution but different mechanisms. While (i.e., temperature, pH, CaCO3, N content, C/N microbial biomass N) significantly correlated altitude, more influenced by species composition. Particularly, abundance Mull decreased compared mountain forests, whereas frequency Amphi increased. Moreover, Oligomull Leptoamphi abundant beech while Eumacroamphi, Eumesoamphi Pachyamphi only observed forests. Such a fertility where higher values nitrogen (N), (MBN) pH at lower altitudes under altitudes.

Factors controlling soil organic carbon stability along a temperate forest altitudinal gradient

Changes in soil organic carbon (SOC) stability may alter carbon release from the soil and, consequently, atmospheric CO2 concentration. The mean annual temperature (MAT) can change the soil physico-chemical characteristics and alter the quality and quantity of litter input into the soil that regulate SOC stability. However, the relationship between climate and SOC stability remains unclear. A 5...

Geochemical characterization of the forest loess soils along a precipitation gradient in Northern Iran

Introduction: The loess-paleosol sequences in Northern Iran are important archives represent several cycles of Quaternary climate change and can be used to complete the information gap on loess between Europe and central Asia. Loess geochemistry reflects paleoweathering conditions and it can be used to determine the nature and provenance of loess deposits. In the Caspian Lowlands, a pronounced...

Carabidae diversity along an altitudinal gradient in a Peruvian cloud forest (Coleoptera)

Carabid beetles were sampled at five sites, ranging from 1500 m to 3400 m, along a 15 km transect in the cloud forest of Manu National Park, Perú. Seasonal collections during a one year period yielded 77 morphospecies, of which 60% are projected to be undescribed species. There was a significant negative correlation between species richness and altitude, with the number of carabid species decli...

STUDIES ALONG AN ALTITUDINAL GRADIENT IN MONOTHECA BUXIFOLIA (Falc.) A.D, FOREST, DISTRICT LOWER DIR, PAKISTAN

The present paper is about the species composition, diversity, equitability, richness and concentration of dominance of tree species along an altitudinal gradient of District Dir Lower Hindukush range of Pakistan. A total of 15 stands in Monotheca buxifolia (Falc.) A.D forests were analyzed at an elevation of 1370m to 1670m asl. The vegetation analysis showed that a total of six tree species ex...
